NEW SOUTH WALES v. BRITAIN
(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, December 8. The New South Wales Tennis Tournament was continued on Saturday in tine weather. The courts-were oonsidehrbly 'faster, and play all round, was a gr'&at 'improvement oh that of Friday's, being at times brilliant, and arousing considerable enthusiasm. Beamish was remarkable for his backhand play/which was remarkably forceful. The Doubles between Dixon and Beamish (Britain) and Wright and A. B. Jones was , very exciting, the Englishmen playing well, but the New South Welshmen were brilliant. The results were as follow: Singles—Beamish (Britain) beat Wright (N.S.W.), 4—6, 'B-6, 6—3. Parke (Britain) beat A. B. Jones, 6—l, o—4. Doubles —Wright and A. B. Jones boat Beamish ami Dixon. 7.—5. B—l. Parke and Lowe f Britain) and Rice and E. L. .Tones CN.S.W.) each wan a set when the light stopped play. This game will be continued on Monday. The scores at present stand, excluding the unfinished match: Britain: o rubbers, 10 sets. 03 games; N;S.W., 1 rubber, 6 sets, 83 games.-'
