SYDNEY~MAN'S DEATH

(Received Last Night, 10 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, December 5. At the inquest touching the death of Robert McGregor, or McCrindle, who died from the result of a bullet wound, received on the 16th of last month, during a festive evening at his house, one of the guests testified that deceased refused to reveal his assailant when questioned at tho hospital, though ho admitted that he knew. ' The evidence showed that McCrindle was 24 years of age, and married, but living apart from his wife. ■ The evidence of a young woman, who lived with tho deceased, showed that a girl, who was present, informed witness that one of the guests was carrying a revolver. Witness asked McCrindle in tho hospital who his assailant wlas, (and he replied: "The fellow with a. revolver." Tlie girl previously mentioned that she accompanied the man with the revolver' to the party She remarked to witness: "T don't want Jack," meaning the man with tho revolver, "T love Paddy," meaning McCrindle. The medical evidence showed' no indications of alcohol about the deceased. The Coroner returned an open verdict. Tho party, he wild, was just a drink orgy and was the worst case in ten years of his experience. Severe! witnesses more or less suppressed tho truth.
