ELECTIVE EXECUTIVE.
Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., is not alono in tho opinion that there is too much party politics in this country, and
that tho interests of the Dominion would better be .served it' tho Executive were made elective. Those who oppose this reform have not been able to supply cogent or logical reasons for their opposition. While party politics exists, however, it is impossible for Mr Sykes, or for any other member, to vote at all times according to the dictates of their conscience. A correspondent has a little jibe at Mr Sykes in our issue /to-day fir his having neglected to vote for the Elective Executive Bii! when it was brought down in August last. Tho measure, it should be pointed out, was a private one. and had not a. ghost of a chance of being placed on the Statute Book, unless it were taken op by the Government. Mr Sykeji can be excused, therefore, if ho did not take the Hill seriously. ,
