A HOSPITAL MATTER.
We are publishing a fairly full report of the proceedings) at the Wairarapa Hospital Board meeting yesterday, £0 that any false- impression that may have been created in the minds of the public concerning the treatment of Sister McKay, may at once be dispelled. It would seem that the whole matter resolves itself into one of discipline. The position as between the matron and the sister apparently became impossible, and it was necessary that immediate action be taken to avoid serious consequences. The special committee of the Board, to which the matter was reported, thought it desirable to ask Sister McKay to tender her resignation. In view of all the circumstances, wo cannot help thinking that the committee did n right thing in dealing immediately with the matter. That its action has been confirmed by tho Board is a complete vindicacinu of the- rttitrde assumed bv the chairman. WhcMier the breach of discipline warranted the extreme course of asking tho nurse to resign, is nurely n matter of opinion. The fact, tlnf Sipfer McKay herself has thought it expedient to resign without insisting upon an inquiry, would lead one to suppose that tho committee ni,rsu<H 7 the only course open to it. Tt on!v remains to be. said that no moniboof the Board has made the slightest attack unon.the character or profession of the nurse in eueption.
