J\lr A. T. Loean, brother of Mr D. K. Logan of Masterton, .has entered into narttiorship in a dental business in Palmorston North. Sergeant-Major Burr of Dannovirko, who is well known in Masterto:n, has received notice of liis transfer to a similar position with head-, quarters at Wellington. He will he succeeded by Area Sergonnt-Major Woodward, of Wellington.

The death occurred .at Kilbirnie yesterday of Mrs A. ,T. Bourke, mother of Mr M. F. Bourke, whois well known in Masterton and the Forty-Mile Busk The Prime Minister and the Hon. W. Fraser leave Wellington for the South this evening, and will attend the banquet to be given to the Hon. J. Allen bv his constituents at Lawrence on Friday. The Governor-elect ''Lord Liverpool) and Lady Liverpool are passengers by' the steamer Malwa, which is due at Melbourne on 18th December. The vice-regal party will leave the direct steamer at Melbourne and travel to Wellington by one of the intercolonial boats.
Master W. Moore, son of Mr F. G. Moore, of Mastei'ton, leaves for Adelaide to-day to enter the service of the Cable Company.

At the meeting of the Mauriceville Countv Council on Saturday last, Councillor C. Churchill-Jackson was complimented by his fellow Councillors upon the verv satisfactory manner in which he had filled thft position. of Chairman during the past year.
The resignation of Mr J. V. Jensen as roadman' in tho East Riding, has been accented by the Maiineeville County Council, and Mr Otto Larson has been appointed in his stead.
