BOROUGH COUNCIL
ORDINARY MEETING
The ordinary meeting of the Mas-tert-on Borough Council was held last evening, there being present —His Worship the Mayor. (Mr J. M. Coradine), Crs H. J. O'Leary, J, Elliott, F. \V. Temple, E. Flanagan, W. Candy, W. Pragnell, J. P. Prentice and A. Donald. A letter was received from the secretary of the Wairarapa Cricket Association asking the Council's permission to make charges of Is and Gd ' for admission to the" Park Oval on the 18th and 19th, the occasion of the visit of the Melbourne Cricket team to Masterton. The Mayor thought that the Council should do everything possible to meet the Cricket Association, as the visit of the Australians would do something to advertise the town, and it should be considered something of a privilege to have th? opening match in Masterton. Cr Prentice endorsed the Mayor's remarks. It was decided, on the motion of the Mayor, that the application be granted, and that the Cricket Association bo asked, to hold itself re--sponsible for any damage that misrh+ result from the v match on the Oval. A letter was also received from t-:--Wellington Wednesday Association, •asking the Council to give the visiting team a civic reception. Tt was decided that the Mayor and the Town Clerk (Mr J. Archer) receive the visitors, the arrangements to be left in the hands of the Mayor. Accounts amounting to £l7Bo' 18s lid, made up as follows, gas account £lOl9 7s 6d, general account £761 lis sd, were passed for payment.
