ENGLISH TEAM IN SYDNEY

COMMENTS ON THE OONEST.

(Received Last Night, 9.15 o'clock.) SYDNEY, December 3. The British tennis team was enthusiastically welcomed, Mr Oolquhoun presiding" at a largely attended gathering. Mr Dixon, captain of the English team said that the Davis Cup victory was due to Parke. Ho eulogised tho hospitality shown the team in Melbourne. Parko paid a tribute to the sporting attitude of the spectators, and said that he had never played before such a sporting crowd which applauded good play on both sides equally. If Brookes and Wilding play in the next contest he could not see. any hope for Britain holding the Cup, which ho thought would come back to Australia. Australia, he said, had good schoolboys coming on, and if the Cup came back to Australia, it would be a. long time before it left it again. Bortmtsh also commented on the good sportsmanship shown, especially after Britain won. It really made the English feel as if they were glad they won tho Cup.
