THE BEEF TRUST.
It is now established, beyond shadow of doubt, that the American Beef Trust is commencing operations in Australia. It. is only a question of time when a vigorous effort will, be made to extend these operations to New Zealand. Inquiries have, it is stated, already been, made concerning the prospects of tliis Dominion, The Government was urged, by Mr Buchanan and others, during the last session of Parliament, to keep a vigilant watch upon this Trust, and it is sincerely to bo hoped that this advice is not being disregarded. We have quite a sufficient number of Trusts stretching out their grasping tentacles upon the trade of this Dominion without the invasion of this specially destructive form of American conibino.
