On Saturday afternoon a horse oo'i ed Avith a gig near the Public Library, hit a telephone post, smashed the gig and careered into and up Cuba Street, Thence it Avent across to Willis Street and doAvn that thoroughfare, and in the busiest part it took to the footpath and struck an old man named James Kirk, who was seriously injured and removed to the hospital. Tn vioAV of the number of people in the streets, including many women and children, it is remarkable that no more Avere hurt by the runawiy. Kirk's condition is considered hopeless.
