THE SHEARERS.

Mr Alex. McLeod, organiser of the Shearers' Union, has written the Dannevirke paper, denying the rumour of a general strike of .shearers this season. He says that at no time had the suggestion been made by the executive of the Shearers' Union, or the raaik and file. The probabilities are that the rumour gained currency through an innocent paragraph that recently appeared in the columns of the Wairarapa Age. In conversation with a representative of this paper, Mr La racy, who is also an organiser for the Shearers' Union, stated that there was no likelihood of trouble unless the shearers were affected by tho Waihi strike. This little word "maless" seems to have aroused a certain amount of suspicion in the minds of sheep-owners.
