MR MASSEY IN AUCKLAND.

The fact" that, a number of policemen wero assembled in Auckland on the occasion of the. Prime Minister'® veception, on Tuesday night has been made the subject of comment by ccr- ; tain sections of ihe Press. The facts, as reported by- ;telegram,,■ show that the precautions taken by the Commit sionei; of; Police on the ocqasion were fully warranted. There was a section of "Red Feds." in the city which was inflamed on account of the Waihi incident, and this section had openly expressejfl its' intention of creating a disturbance. The presence of the police in large .numbers was alone responsible for the maintenance of order. The intended demonstration has not the "slightest political significance, for the.,ring-leaders were a body of Socialistic irresponaibles who have long since alienated the sympathy of the great bulk of the people.
