FARMERS' UNION.

DAILY MAIL DELIVERY. A meeting of settlers of the Wangacliu, To Ore Ore Rangitumau and Homebush districts, who are desirous of a daily delivery of mails, was held in the A. and P. Rooms at 2 p.m. yesterday. Mr G. R. Sykes. who was voted to the chair, stated that this meeting .was called by the Farmers' Union, which existed to look after the interests of the formers. One of t-ho duties of the union was to make rural life more attractive by removing the disabilities of the farmer as -compared with those of the city man. The settler* in the districts represented. wished for a daily delivery of mails, which, no doubt. would be a great convenience to them. The postal department would like to do all they can for country residents, but as those present knew the request would! entail considerable expense, and it would be necessary for the settler to subsidise the service.

Mr Tnder. the postmaster, on request. stated that the settlers would need to find £77. which was the difference between the estimated revenue and expenditure. 'Mr Sykos asked those present whether they were, willing to pay £1 en eh. to which all those present consented. Committees were appointed to interview those settlers who were absent, arid report to a meeting to be called shortly.
