Questions in the House, of Commons, on tile practice of the India Office granting loans from the India res'eh-o fund, to financial institutions, revealed the fact that, a loan of £1.000,000 bad.been made to Samuel Montague and Co. at 2$ per cent. Mr G. D. Faber, Unionist member for Clapham, said that the granting of such loans merely meant making firms a present of one per centum. He asked that the India Office in future would deal direct with the Stock Exchange, and a better return for their money.
