At a meeting of the Select Committee inquiring into improvements to Parliament House, Speaker Willis presented documents covering recommendations on the subject, then leaving private secretary to read them. Some members objected to Speaker Willis being represented, by proxy. Ex-iSpeaker McCourt resigned as a protest and informed interviewers that he resented Sneaker Willis's .high and mighty action which was calculated to belittle tho members of the Committee.
