Figures supplied by the Hon James Allen, Minister of Finance, show that the receipts for the seven months ended October 31st, were £5,658,343, as compared with £5,3.04,4 M for the corresponding period of last year, being j an increase of £353,749. The prin- ' cipal increases are : Customs, £87,386; Stamps, £A2.2~>8 ; Railways, £170,213. For the year ended October 31st, the revenue was £11,329,889, as_compared with „ .fJI 0.6*2,229 for the previous year. The principal increases for the year were: Customs. £258,693; Post and Telegraph, £48,338; Land and Income Tax, £77,119; Railways, £222,853. The expenditure for the seven months ended October 31st was: Under the Public Works fund £1,061,939, as compared with £967,382 for the previous year; under the Consolidated Fund £5.923.51,5, as compared with £5.562.036 for the seven months of th« previous year.
