DISTRICT NEWS
(From our Correspondent.)
KAIPARORO. j The weather during the past week has been quite unseasonable. Strong north-westerly gales, accompanied by heavy rain, prevailed during the early part of the week. On Saturday the wind changed to the south, and the weather is now both cold and wet, and at present there does not seem to be any prospect of its improving. Dairy farmers are the only ones " who seem to appreciate the continuous wet. Though their'work is rendered much moro unpleasant by it, their spirits are probably buoyed up by the thought of the fat cheques , which are being piled up. Motorists travelling on the Hast-well-Eketahuna road at the present time have considerable difficulty in getting across the rough metal, and several breakdowns have been recorded. The road has been recently graded, and it is now being spread with a thick coating of broken rock. This repairing will probably later on result in a much improved roadway, but those who are obliged to use the . road now would'most likely prefer mud to metal. * I The monthly meetirig of the school ' committee took place last Monday night, there being present—Messrs -iA. Faulkner (chairman), 0. Burton (secretary), J. McCaim, 0. Faulkner and A. Palmer. Owing to pressure of work it wis decided to discontinue the fortnightly euchre tournaments. for the concert, to be ' held at the end of the month, inaaitd t of the school library, were discussed. The bush at present is gay with the blossoms of rangiora and olenitis, of wliicli plants are flowering unusually freely.
