IFrom Our Own Correspondent.] i A flat road race between Carterton I and Greytown is being organised in J - aid of the funds of the bazaar to be held in February next, in aid of the J funds of the St. Mary's Catholic j Church. The race is to take place on J Thursday, December 12th, and will be | from post office to post office, com- ( mencing at Greytown nnd finishing'' at Cartei-ton. A silver cup will be awarded the winner, £1 for. second place, and a silver medal for third prize. - 'M Thursday' / afternoon Mr Waiter S. sp66lisi', ond son of Mr A. E. Spooner, late j of Carterton, was married to Mis? Myrtle Alice Oompton, second daughter of Mr T. Compton, of West Taratalii. The bride was charmingly attirad in a gown of corded silk, and carried a bouquet of lilies. She was , given away by her father, «nd attended by lier sisted, El ma, Miss Alice Pinhey (Wellington), and her little -sister Iris as bridesmaids. They were dressed in gowns of cream San Toy, with black bats. Messrs C. E. Lee and It. Crawley wore best man and groomsman respectively. , The ceremony was performed by the j Her L. Thompson, of St. Andrew's } CJlmrc.li. Afterwards a large number of friends and relatives partook of the wedding breakfast, when the usual toasts were honoured. The young couple were the receipients of many i serviceable presents," and left lator on . their honeymoon tour, the bride's \ travelling dress being a navy blue , tailor-made costume with hat to 1 match. Mr and Mrs Spooner will j take up their residence in Carterton on their return. On Friday, November 22nd, the settlers of Carrington a.nd, West TarataJii will celebrate the installation of the telephone system in their district with a banquet. Among those to he ! invited will be Mr W. 0. Bncham.n, M.P., and the Prime Minister and the Postmaster-General.
