UNITED STATES ELECTIONS. PROGRESS OP VOTING, (Received Last Night, 9 o'clock.) NEW YORK, November 6. The Democrats have captured the Maryland vote. Mr Roosevelt is leading Mr Taft for tho Chicago and New York vote. Mr Roosevelt has also earned H'-i----nois. The Democrats captured New York State for the Senate and Lower House. THE DEMOCRATS LEADING. REPUBLICAN VOTE SPLIT. (Received Last Night, 9 o'clock ) NEW YORK, November 6. The returns indicate an overwle.ln.iing victory for the Democrats. . The party has captured New York State vote by a majority exceeding 100,000 The splitting of the vote has cost the Republicans the election, as Mr Taft and Mr Roosevelt's votes combined, in most instances, exceeded that of the Democrats.

''" All the States south of the Potomac ■ are Wilsonites, while Connecticut, , Delaware, West Virginia. Indiana and Missouri are Democratic. New Hampshire and Vermont are Taftites. With the Western States incomplete the electoral votes stood:— Dr Woodrow Wilson '267. Mr Roosevelt 29. Mr Taft 8. Mr Roosevelt said, that he would, accept the.result with entire good' humour an<f contentment, and'said, "As for the Progressive ' cause, the fate'of its leader, is'of little conse-. quence< hut the cause itself must ultimately triumph, for it's triumph is essential to the 'well-being'.-of the people." / Mr Roosevelt telegraphed congratulating Dr Woodrow Wilr-™.. At midnight the'results indicated three hundred electoral votes for Dr Woodrow Wilson.
