SYDNEY, October 30. Jn connection with the report that a writ had been issued against the Australian Shipping Company, of Melbourne, for £9098 damages, in respect of 364 passengers, who were taken to their destination, when the steamer Papanui was wrecked near St Helena, it is now stated that the steamer was: not wrecked, hut caught fire. The vessel was beached at. St. Helena in order that the holds might be flooded.
