THE BALKAN WAR.
The Balkan war lias developed into one of tho most horrible exhibitions of barbarism that arc on record in the history of Europe. Nearly half a. million men are engaged in the most sanguinary conflict, with modem weapons and ferocious daring. The Turks are fighting for their very existence against tremendous odds, and the Allies are making fierce onslaughts on every side. It is too early yet to predict what the end <<!' it will bo. The cause of humanity should prompt the immediate intervention of the great Powers; but- those are so divided in their interests, and so suspicions of each other's • motives, that a common demand seems almost impossible. Meantime, the state of panicthat exists on the Continental Bourses is sufficient to create profound apprehension in all parts of the world. The conflagration has commenced —where will it end ?
