There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was particularly keen . throughout the sale, every line changing hands un- , der the hammer at satisfactory prices. Two-year-old' steers brought £4 [ 16s, yearling steers £3 13s 6d, year- i j ling (mixed sexes) £3 6s, small year- ) .j ling heifers £2 19s, calves £1 19s!, \ \ springing heifers £5 5s to £6 17s'6d, j bulls to £5, backward .empty, heifers' £3 17s. '. r Messrs .lames Macintosh' and Co. re., port having held their initial spring cattle sale in;,their Masterton (Wai- j poua) sal'eyards on Tuesday, 29tli October, when they offered a yarding, well above advertised numbers.
