In tho Legislative Assembly, tho leader of the Opposition moved a motioii deploring the fact that the Government bad not insisted on precautions being taken, which would have prevented terrible- loss of life at North Lyell. He stated that he took this action because the mine was to i be flooded; he would have withheld < th e motion had ho thought a Coroner's inquiry would have been "held. Tho Government accepted . the motion as one 0 f want of confidence. The debate chiefly turned on the / question of providing a second outlet at the mine. It wa s shown that the mining regulations did not provide for this, excepting in the case of coller-i<-s. Pho debate was adjourned.
