The Hon. W. W. McOardlo and Mrs McCnrdle are at present visiting Pahiatua. A Sydney cable reports the death of F. .Griffiths, a former champion wrestler of New Zealand. The Rev. J. C. Mill, of Pahiatua, will be inductee! to the charge of Flemincton (Canterbury) during the first week in Decoiuber. Mr John Payne, M. P., who has been on a business visit to Masterton, returned to Wellington yesterday afternoon. •Mr C. 'Douglas, ■ secretary of the Hawko'a Bay A. and P. Association, will be a. visitor to the Carterton show to-day. The death occurred at Auckland on Monday of Mr Walter Robert Kessel, who was for many years a resident of J Hastings. Mr CI. J. Nicholas, of the Masterton Post Office, was last evening presented with -a> handsome silver entree dish by a number of friends at Devonshire House, on the occasion of liis approaching marriage, which will be celebrated at Dunedin on Wednesday next. Mr C. A. Paulsen, formerly of Masterton, but now of the staff of tho N.Z. Farmer, passed through yesterday afternoon fo.r the Carterton show. The death of an old identity in the person of Mrs John Barr. at tho ago of 82, is reported by the Wanganui papers. She leaves'a family of fivo eons and six daughters. Tho death of "Mr J. H. Wheeler, at Rangiora, is announced. The deceased came to the Dominion in 18-15, and joined the Post and Telegraph Department at the age of IG. Since then he .successfully held important posts at Oamaru. Papanui, Westland, Riverton an-' 1 lastly at Rangiora, whore he wr.s in charge for the past ten years. At St. Margarets' Church, Taihapo; on -Thursday j, Mr Peter McArthur Cameron, of Eketahuna. was marriedto Hilda Rase, second daughter of Mr Thomas Bason, of Taihapo. Tho Rev. P. W. Clnrkson officiated. Mr Moore, of Eketahuna, was best man, and Mr S. Bason brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. A quiet wedding was celebrated at tho residence of the bride's mother on Monday, JOctober 21st, when Miss Adeline Carlson, second daughter of Mrs Carlson, of Kaituna was united to Mr William Falloon, of "Leavendon," Kaituna, second .son of Mr H. Falloon, of Wangaehu. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., B.D. Mrs Matheson, an old resident of Konini, passed away on Monday morning at tho residence of her son-in-law (Mr Wade) from the effects of a sevoro attack of influenza, at the ripe old age of SO. The deceased lady had heon a resident of Konini for over 22 years, having settled there with her irasband and family from Aberdeen, and during that time she endeared herself to a large circle of friends. Her husband predeceased her about 12 years ago, after having celebrated their golden wedding. She leaves four daughters to mourn their loss.
