SOCIAL GATHERING.< | A very enjoyable social under- the j auspices of the Masterton Political J Reform League was held in the J'x- | change Hall last evening. There was a fair attendance, and those present I were entertained in a very socialaSle manner. Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., w.is J present, and briefly addressed the assembly on the political questions of the clay. He apologised! for the absence of a number of Parliament.irians who had promised to bd present,but who had at the last mom -nt through political exigencies, been unable to be in Masterton. _ Mr Sykes \ referred. to the various Bills that had ! been-passed during the session, and was applauded at the conclusion of i.is remarks. .A musical programme was gone through as follows : —Songs : Miss Graham. Messrs J. Gray and W. Iggukten; duet, Mrs and Miss Anderson ; recitation, Mrs Cairns and | Misses McKenzie and Stella Cairns. Mr Wadham presided at the piano, and extras were played by the Misses Gra- 1 ham and Anderson. Messers Miller ( and Vile acted as M.sC. A sum > tuous supper was provided by the Jadies' committee. Mr J. B. McKenzie presided over th'e gatheiinc.".
