The Masterton Chamber of Commerce is to be commended for having made a move in the direction of securing for the town improved mail, services. If it were to urge the establishment of a motor system throughout the district, it would be serving a useful purpose. An experiment might be made with some of the minor services. The State should prospect the proposal by inviting alternate tenders for the conveyance of mails bv coach and motor. It might even consider the advisability' of undertaking its own motor services.
