THE SESSION'S WORK.
| The Premier is indeed optimistic i; he thinks that the legislative programme 'lift outlined yesterday can begot through in ten days. We confess that wo cannot- view -with satisfaction any proposal oF the soit. There are measures on the Ord«r Paper which require serious thought and deliberation. The policy of past Governments in rushing through important legislation in the dying .hours of the session has been severely condemned, and we should be .sorry indeed to «eo Mr Massevr emulating the example of his 'predecessoi-s. If there k io be no ".slaughter of the innocents," then the House sKonld make up Remind to remain in session until well into November.
