CULL COWS.

An important question is raised by a correspondent in this issue. He asks what becomes of tho cows that are culled out by the. Cow-testing Associations. There is reason to think that many of them are disposed of at sales of dairy herds. If this is so, there should be some provision for tho protection of the purchaser. The person who buys a dairy cow at a clearing sale, or through the saleyard, should know for what lie is bidding. He should be given a guarantee that the animal has produced butter fat up to a certain test in the previous season. He would then know what he was buying. Unless some such provision is made, farmers will naturally regard with suspicion cows that are offered at auction.
