RED FLAG DEMONSTRATION.

Tlie Red Flap: demonetrations which are being held in various parts of the Dominion to protest against the imprisonment of the Waihi law-breakers are falling as flat as pancakes. It seems almost a mockery that men should show their sympathy with those in gaol by ceasing work for a day. This is like dancing on the prostrate form of a dead ma.n. If the Red Flaggers irish to,do a .service to those who are in. gaol, they will induce them to find sureties of the peace and go to work as good, lawabiding citizens. The strike is now one-sided. The men who are out of work are being gradually replaced, and those who. remain idle and live on the charity of their fellows will find themselves lamenting.
