CO-OPERATION
SOME OF ITS BENEFITS.. A surprising statement , was (according to the Express) made by Mr Thomas Parsons, chairman of the N.Z. "Dairy Union, at the opening of the Newman Cheese Factory on Thursday, in .asserting that fully £IOO,OOO was lost annually to the Dominion through manufacturers not co-operat-ing in the sale of their produce. "We co-operate in manufacturing. 1 ' said Mr Parsons, "but in the sale of our produce we are all at sixes and sevens." In landing, the system of co-ope-ration, Mr Parsons pointed out that the National Dairy Association, to which most companies were attached, had been the means of saving hundreds of pounds in freight. The Association had secured a contract for the carriage of produce with the shipping companies, which had another three years to run, and whereas freights had increased abnormally for other produce there would be n:; difference in butter and cheese charges. Tlio contract, lie .said, also applied to goods brought to New Zealand ports through the Association.
