SALE OF WORK
IN KNOX CHURCH. A very successful sale of work was held in Knox Hall, Masterton, yesterday afternoon and evening, in aid of the funds of the Mission Training Institute, Dunedin. The sale was conducted under the auspices of the Masterton branch of the JP.W.M.U., to the members of' which it must be gratifying that the sum realised exceeded expectations, and the ladies who took part in the arrangements are to be congratulated on the success which greeted their enterprise. The stall holders were as follow: Fancy stall, Mesdames Ross and T. J. Thompson; sweets, Mrs and Miss Anderson; produce. Mesdames N. Miller and Willoughby; flower stall,Miss Wingate; tea rooms. Mesdames Moor and Gibson and Misses Ross and J. Millar. A number of competitions were held, and resulted as follow: Fruit cake, Mrs Willoughby Ist, Mrs J. Millar 2nd; seed cake, Mrs N. Miller Ist, Mrs Willoughby 2nd; scones. Mrs Ross Ist. Mrs Willoughby 2nd; gingerbread, Mrs J. Millar Ist, Mrs Exell 2nd ; tartlets, Mrs T. Moor Ist, Mrs Wm. Munroe 2nd; sponge sandwich, Mrs N. Miller Ist, Mrs Pearce 2nd; victoria sandwich, Mrs J. Millar Ist, Miss E. McKay 2nd; shortbread, Miss E. McKay Ist, Mrs N. Miller 2nd; cocoa nut ice, Mrs N. Miller Ist, Mrs Willoughby 2nd; '!\irkish delight. Mrs N. Miller Ist, Miss Shaw 2nd; decorated tables, Miss Maggie Rive Ist, Miss E. Anderson 2nd.
