POLICEMEN AND SUNDAY.
The Auckland Presbytery is'moving in the direction of securing more Sundays oft' duty for policemen. Presumably the members of the force .ve more in need of religious instruct'.o; than other sections of'the community whose callings require them to io duty on the Sabbath. It cannot be seriously argued that they ri rv overworked on Sundays, or on : ny other day for 'that nutter. But, if they conscientiously desire to patronise the churches to a greater extent than at present, we are of opinion that no obstacle should be' placed in their way. It is their special duty to watch—by all means give them the opportunity of engaging in a little prayer! '"J .
