THE BARE MAJORITY.
VCo Tke JSditw.] Sir,—l. cpaite agree with you that the X.Z. Alliance is presumptuous in asking people to sink all other political considerations and vote for candidates only who are prepared to give the bare majority, or something approaching it, on the licensing question. No person will surely be weakminded enough to give such a pledge. And if it is given, I have no doubt it will ho broken as freely as it is signed. No, sir, we should be satisfied with the three-fifths, which makes for stability, and not keep on tampering with the legislation.— I am, etc., NO-LICENSE. Masterton, October 7, 1912.
