THE RANDWICK MEETING. s DERBY WON BY CIDER. (Received Lust Night. 5.5 o^clock.) _____ SYDNEY, October 5. The weather was fine and cool for Derby D:y at the Randwick meeting. There was an attendance of 50,000 .people, which constitutes a. record. The following were the results : First IIm > d]o3.--Paisano, 12.12 (Jones) 1; Warnidgorio, 10.9 (Morgan) 2; Continuance, 11.13 (O'Cpn- ' noil) 3. There were fourteen starters, including Black Northedn, Don Qr.ex and John. Time, 3nrin. -iOscc. Trial Stakes.—Piastre 1, Vanquished 2, Allegory ,']. Nine shrtera. Allegoi'Vj who was well ridden by Deelel, was two lengths behind Vanquisher. Time, 2rain. O-Jsee. At'STH ALLAN DERBY. CIDER (Foley) 1 HARPIST (Dceloy) ... ... 2 PERDITA (Shanahati) ... ft The whole of the acceptors started. Cider and Burrie got the best of the start. Tartania soon went to the front, with Cider and Perdita next in attendance. Tartania was the first to enter- the homo stretch, just in front of Symetria, and folio wed by Elgygtan, Cider, Wolawa, nd Perdita. At the distance Elystan took charge, but at half distance Harpist and Cidor came through. An. exciting finish resulted in a win for Cider by three-quarters of a length, a length separating the- second aad .third horses. Time, 2min. 38sec. Epsom Handicap.—Hartfell (W. Smith) 1; Gigandb (McDonald) 2; Blairgour (Brennan) 3. The whole of the acceptors started. Blairgour led until entering the straight, ■ when Gigandia clashed to the front and* looked all over a winner. Al the half distance, however, Hartfell madea great rush, and drew level with Gigandia. A neck and neck rac& ensued, Hartfell being landed a winner by half a neck, amid wild> excitement. Blairgour was one and ' a quarter lengths away, and was followed by Toli, Cisco, Ladies' Man. Rubeeula, Daunas and Jollv Beggar. Time, lrnin 40isec. Kensington Handicap.—Torula 1, Abbeite 2, Troon 3. Twenty-four starters. Won by a head. Timo, lmin,-29sec. Spring Stakes. —Aurofodina (Barnett) and Duke Poote (Manning), , dead heat, 1; Malt King (McLachlan) 13. Ten starters, including Bronze, who ran last. J Maribyrnong Trial Stakes.—Pinki erton 1, ■Riidi.ilton 2 } Athoyne 3. • Thirty-seven started. Time, 56J-sec. ' .October Stakes.—Lady Medallist 1, Captain White 2, Wilnri 3.
