Magson, who {has hoc v. for the past two and a half years ■connected with the firm of Messrs Donald ami Sons. Masterton, leaves to-day for Cflirisfc-hurch, where he has accepted a lucrative position. The charge of the. Masterton Congregational Church, rendered vacant by the resignation of the Rev T. G. Butler, has been accepted by the Rev B. L. Thomas, of Nelson. The friends of Mrs A. Murray, of Waterfalls, will regret to hoar that she was taken rather seriously ill last week. Dr Jamieson, of Eketahuna, was summoned, and it was understood that an operation would lo r-.seessarv. The friends of Mr James Elliot, nf Masterton, will he sorry to hear that the-trip he recently made to the north did nofc result in a'material improvement in his health. While he was away he. became rather seriously ill, and since Ins return to Masterton he has been confined to his house for several days. He was able to get out for a. while on Saturday. A resident of Gisborne for almost the past 30 years, in the person of Mr George Wallis Richardson, passed away at 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning. Deceased was horn in 1836 at New Bedford, Rhode Island, U.S.A., and from 18-18 was engaged on whaling boats in various parts of the world. He settled in New Zealand 50 years ago, and was married two years later at Napier. The Rev Canon Jordan, 8.A.. for nearly forty .years minister in charge of tho Church of England parish at 'Tauranga, died on Saturday afternoon at the age of 73. He was educated ac Trinity College, Dublin; graduated in 1866; ordained in St. Mary's Cathedral, Tiiam, Countv Galway, on July 14th, 1867; and arrived at Tauranga on December 31st, 1872. Ho bad resided there ever since. He had been many times Mayor of Tautranga. He was a member of the Tauranga Licensing Committee and of the "Ray of Plenty Hospital and Charitable Aid Board at the time of his death. He leaves a widow and an adult family of three sons and two daughters. Deceased was held in high esteem throughout tho Bay of Plenty.
