Ibe price of choicest Canadian cheese is 64s to 605."
Last season a Feilding farmer shipped his lambs to London and .sold •them there on the open market. With the pelts, wool, and fat, they brought 20s 7d per head. The expenses''he calculated at 4s (xl per head, leaving IGs 'pew head dear profit. The weights were 841b average, and at the time of shipping the Dominion freezing works were 12s per head for 361b lambs.. The farmer i.s therefore perfectly satisfied with tho result of his enterprise.
The monthly meeting of the managers of the Masterton Technical School was held last evening, when the ordinary routine business was dealt with. A special meeting will be held in a fortnight's time for the purpose of receiving the report on the working of the classes during the second term. At the special meeting the managers will also consider 5 the .practicability of establishing sheepshearing classes in connection with the school. Inquiries in connection with this matter are now being made bv tho managers.
The Gladstone Football C'lub held its annual dance in the Gladstone Hall last evening. The popularity of this annual function was demonstrated by the largo and representative gathering that ,was present, there being upwards of 300 ladies and gentlemen taking part in the dancing. All arrangements were well in hand, reflecting great credit on the Club's secretary, Mr J. K, Strang, who. with a strong committee, worked indefatignbly for the success of the function. The floor and music were excellent, and dancing was enjoyed until an early hour this morning.
On Thursday afternoon Mr James H. Foster. custodian of the Government Buildings at Blenheim, and his daughter, Eva Marion, went, for a drive. The horse bolted, and the trap collided with another trap coming 'in the opposite direction. Both vehicles were overturned, and the occupants thrown out. The occupants of the swoml trap escaped unhurt. Mr Foster and his daughter are badly hurt. Miss Foster sustained a fracture of the .skull in two places, and her condition is hopeless. AJr Foster received a severe scalp wound mid an injury to liis nose. Hopes are entertained for, his recovery.
