THE FIRST SESSION.
All tilings being considered, the Massey Government is making good progress during its first session. It was not anticipated that any important policy measures would be brought down until next year Those, however, which havo been introduced have met with a fair reception from both Chambers. The Land Bill has yet'to lie dealt with, and it would not be surprising if this were held over for further consideration. Its fa be ■will denen(d largely upon the treatment it receives at the hands of the Lands Committee. The chief interest during the remainder of the session (which may be expected to close in about three weeks' time) will centre in the public works statement. This is to lie brought down next week, mnd will contain .1 number of important proposals.
