N.Z. SOCIALISM.
"Professor" W. T. Mills, the big little man of the X.Z. 'liiuoa. does not aopear to r"li-ill the remarks of Milwaukee Miller concerning the operation of socialism in New Zealand. He admits that the experiments in State control have not been as successful as could ho desired; but be states that the inefficiency of the Stateowned services is due to the interference of private, - interests. Very well. Let ns apply the test to the railways. Does Professor Mills wish u.s to believe that private interests have been responsible for the awful muddle into which our railway system has fallen? If lie does, then Ave are sorry for his limited powers of observation. Asf a matter "of fact there is not a solitary State enter-, prise (with tho exception, perhaps, of the Post Office) that may be declared an administrative success.
