SHIPPING FREIGHTS.

Tho information published in another column, to the effect that the shipping companies have increased the freights on wool and other produce by nearly double, will leave an unpleasant taste in the mouths of producers of the Dominion. The companies have, no doubt, a reasonable excuse for their action. The strikes at Home, coupled with the demands of seamen for higher wages, have compelled the increase. It is fortunate for the producers that the markets are high for all kinds of produce. Should a slump or an unfavourable season be experienced, however, the position will be serious. The producer will have to consider what steps ho will take to meet the extra tax placed upon him.
