MASTERTON HOMING CLUB
THE OHAKUNE RACE. Tim first race for this season was flown from Ohakuno yesterday, an airline distance of 108 miles. Fiftysix birds competed, representing eleven lofts. The birds were liberated by the stationmaater at Ohakune at 11 a.m., with a strong westerly wind and rain, and did a remarkable flv, covering the distance in 2hr 15 min. Following was the resnlt: —W. Bowling's Runaway (1393 yards per minute). 1 ; E. Wickcn's Ginger Bread (138S yards do.), 2; W. C. G-mirlav's Tempest, (1376 vards do.), 3. The next rare is from Christ-church on the sth inst.. 28 birds reprosontin2 seven lofts, taking part. These birds will eventually fly Invercargill this season, being the No. 1 south birds.
