A FOREST RESERVE.
The Masterton Closer Settlement League might well devote its attention to some of the Native buds and Crown reserves in the district. There is, for instance, a forest reserve of a thousand or two acres between Mas-
terton and Eketahu.ua which is well adapted for closer settlement. Why this land .should have been reserved nobody appears to know. If it wore thrown upon it would provide dairy farms tor about a doiven persons, and if a road wore put through it, the settlers of Putara and A tea would bo given easy access to Mastertou. Wo are informed that the land would bo eagerly snapped up if it were placed upon the market. The, Closer Settlement League, should pi.ice itself in communication with the member for the- district on the, subject.
