CHEAP BOOTS.
Residents of Masttrton are just now revelling in cheap boots. They receive a circular from ah outside firm, telling them that if they will sell five shilling's worth of tickets and send along the cash received, they will have forwarded them a pair of boot* for nnthing. The dodge is a very old ,md skilul one. Tt war, tried in Wellington years ago. but the police somehow nipped it in the bud. The liusi.nesis not fair. It is. in fact, an infringement of the spirit of the Gaming Act, and an entirely suspicious method of prohibit the "chain system" of dealing in boots and other wares, legislation on the subject should at onco. be introduced-
