The concession of meat stuffs operate retroactively from Ist October, and expire in March, 1914. An Official Note insists that tho scarcity of meat is only transitory. No puncturing of tariff or interference with inspection arc permissible. The newspapers emphasise'the faefr that petitions |rom the great cities demand the admission of fro/.nn beef from overseas, especially from th« Argentine, which remains excluded, and a pernTanent 'change in the present system. /
