WAIRARAPA RAILWAYS.
Wo have reason to think that provision may be made by the Government this year for the construction of a railway between Featherston and Martinborough. There can be no objection whatever to the important Martinborough district being served by railway; but we would urge the Minister of Public Works to consider carefully the route of thp- proposed railway before he gives any definite Undertaking. The question of the deviation of the Rimutaka railway cannot be ignored, and if this national work is to be carried out. the deviation would probably start at WoodSide. The junction of the Martinborough railway would then be at Greytown. The Minister f-houid nay due regard to this aspect of the question.
