Tho Daily Mail displays .a, Melbourne cable regarding Canada's three Dreadnoughts., in which Mr Fisher, in an interview, said lie could not see the advantage of tho Dominions being-re-presented upon the-Imperial Defence Council by men who would sooner or later bo out of touch with tho people J they represented and become dead 'channels through which tho Govern--1 ment's policy would flow. Triennial consultation would, ho thinks, lie a better plan. It was desirable that New Zealand -should join Australasia in a set defence. | In a leading article the Daily Mail says that Australia, had been bitterly criticised by certain pacificists, who realised that-her virile example may be contagious in Britain. "But." says the Mail, "when tho world is full of Powers armed to tho teeth precaution is necessary for tho national existence. Australia is acting with supreme patriotism, determining thatif she lias to fight, it will bo with an army, and not a disorganised mob."
