"It gives mo pleasure to submit to you the annual report ;ind balanc<•--hoot, and my t!i:t;iles are hereby tendered to m.V fellow committeemen and to tlio individual members of the Club who have so loyally assisted in bringing iblia club to its present satisfactory basis. The pi'St year has boon one of solid progress. The suggestion that members' tickets be printed and disposed of. ha<s been most satisfactory. Chiefly from this source tlio membership has increased 'from 44 last season to 99 afc the end of this financial year. We are, however, still unsatisfied, and feel certain ithat if each member,, outside committee, could in-duce-say only one friend to join, the membership of the club would, still be greatly increased, and-, wo therefore ask members to do their utmost in the interests of the club by inducing friends to join.
During tlio past season ten evening meetings, were held. These : were much appreciated by members, and are the means of keeping the men in training and afford keen competition. The points prize competed for,, resulted as follows:—R. McKenzio 41}, J. W. Nicholson 36. R. Messenger 10. The thanks of it,lie club nre due to the Wairarapa Caledonian Society for having placed on their sports programme on New Year's Day amateur events. Members of the club ami also outside amateur clubs are to bo congratulated for so strongly supporting these events, and iit is gratifying to know that this is appreciated by the society, and that at their future meetings the number of amateur evor.'is on their programme aro to bo increased. The club desire to thank the executive of the Park Fete and St. Matthow's Fete for having placed events Oil the programme of their gatherings. The events were keenly contested and 'thoroughly appreciated by the competitors. thving te the Australasian Championships being held in Wellington on Boxing Bay the club had to postpone thier meeting, and Easter Monday being the only day on which the Park Oval was available, the meeting was held on tlia-t day. Unfortunately bad weather somewhat marred proceedings. and the gate and grandstand takings amounted, to only £-1-5 7s 6d. as agiinst £66 16s 6d on Boxrng.Day last year, making a difference of £2l 9s less in' gate takings. However, the meeting Avas a great success, both from a competitive and' spectator's point of view. Through the generosity of donors, the club w;i<s successful in showing n credit balance On the meeting.
Me •ssrfe R. McKenzie, R. Messenger, and E. E. Fisher were selectee! io represent New Zealand at the Australasian Championships held in Wellington on Boxing Day laft. McKeazie was successful in winning the Hop Step and Jump and 1-iO yards Hurdles Championships , and was selected 'to represent the province at the New Zealand Championships, but was, unfortunately, unable to make the trip. The smoke concert and presentation of prize*, held «on the night of the sports, was much enjoyed by th<( members of the club and visiting competitors. The sincere thanks of the club are d"ie to donors- of trophies, the club having been materially assisted from this source.
