There were about fifteen persons present at a meeting held hero on rhui\s(Ja t y evening to discuss the ,idvisabality of forming a branch of the Wairarapa Automobile Association. Mi' M. Flgar, of Fcuiherston, presided, and explained the objects of tiie Association. The secretary, pro tern. (Mr J. V. Wilson) read the rules that had been prepared, and there will be brought up for adoption at a general meeting on October 3rd, the time and place to bo fixed. The rules were considered at length, and' several alterations decided upon. On the suggestion of Mr \7. Howard Booth, ifc was decided to adjourn the meeting till next Thursday evening, when delegates will be appointed to repre- I sent Carterton at the general meet- 1 ing in Octoßor. Mr T. E. Maimsel! was elected secretary of tlio local i pommitt.ee. I Mr McCulloch, of Cambridge, will succeed Mr J. Mnhoney, on the etafT | ~f the local branch of the Bank of ! New South Walos. Mr Mnhoney left for Gisborne on Friday. Mr Laing-Meason was a visitor to Carterton on Friday in connection with the proposed new bridge over th- 1 Xauncrataron river on the Dalolelcl fioad.
