Previous to the mild demonstration on the Wakatere's arrival, some 200 members of tlio W.ntprside Workers' Union held a meeting, and discussed the position. It was decided that on Saturday morning next, at 10 o'clock, .work would bo .stopped on the wharves, and a mass meeting of members of tlie Federation of Lalwur should be held at the Grey Statue, to protest against the imprisonment of the Wnihi strikers, and afterwards that a procession he formed to serenade the gaol. Tt appears, however.-that there is grave dissension in the ranks of the Union. It was pointed out to a Herald ronorter to-day that there were over HOO financial members, and 'int. a- third of these were present at the meeting when this decision wa-s come to. The "moderate" section in the Union now demands that a ballot shall be taken on the question of ceasing irork fin Saturday nrorriing..
