J. C. WILLIAMSONS' PANTO MIME. ."SINBAD THE SAILORS What is described by Australian critics as tlio best pantomime envolvcd by J. C. Williamson, Ltd., to date, "Sinbad the Sailor," will be presented at. the Town Hull, Mastorton, on Mondaynext, September 23rd. The critic of ' the Melbourne "Age" writes of tlm production as follows.: —"The J. C Williamson annual pantomime has* come to lie recognised, as the greatest show of its kind in Australia. It may be said at once that this year 'Sinbad the Sailor, as a pre-eminently fine production would be hard to beat anywhere, whether in London, Paris, Berlin, Ancient Babylon or Timbuctoo. It is stage glory personified. The ingredients are the dances, patter, songs ballets, jokes, and stage pictures that • have been born in the minds of its several authors during the previous 12 months. Certainly never within present remembrance has there been such a succession of beautiful tableaux and ravishing transformation scenes as is witnessed in 'Sinbad the Sailor. 11 In this pantomime as in all others tlm powers of evil and good are contending—the wicked machinations of 'The Old Man of the Sea' are foiled at every turn by the spirit of adventure. The* scenic effects are especially fine, not~ \ ably those depicting The Port of BaU sora, The Roc's Nest, The Homo of the Serpent, The Cascade of Jewels, Ttw Y»U«y ni Diamonds, and Hinbad's 'GhJatwas Party, T|ie effects are dazzling in their beauty and bewilder?' ing in their grandeur. At times the* stage is crowded' with magnificently|colturhcJ girls hi all tli% gjitter an&, • gorgeousness of the domain of fsaifland. Particularly grand spectacles' . arc th r ;.!;:.II?te sf tb? nn j t jj§- ( jrcso. The corrt-. pany that will appear is the>- > largest numerically ever associated with pantomime in Australia. It includes such well known artists as Messrs Pip Powel, O. E. Lennor, Charles: Howard, Fred Winn, William Hassan, Misses Nell Finnis, Marie Eaton, Nanco Mahe'r and Florence Imeson. There are over 130 people on ( the stage at one time, also a. ballet of 26 dancers. Musically the production is especially cared for, MrAndrew McCann, having composed many attractive numbers. A feature that will doubtless be- , welcomed will lie found in. "The Sleedes," in a wonderful mystical act en-« titled "The Mysterious Hotel." Taken by and large, tho pantomime of 1912 promises a wealthy spectacle, unusual even in a big J. C. Williamson production. The box plans will be open-/ ed at the Dresden to-morrow morning. r Coupons will be given out at 6.30 a.m. at the Dresden.
