During the night a sharp thunderstorm was experienced, heavy rain falling. The links were saturated, ■and pools of wuter lay about. jv slight wind in the early morning turned into a gale, which lessened as the day wore on. The Christchurch. crack, B. B. Wood, continued to show .good form, but had luck lost him the third round. Wright put up a line round in the morninu;. J. v C. Burns, Auckland, showed improved form. Clements was in his best form, and .won the Open Championship. Ho won the same event in l)u'ic<lin in 1903, "V . and in Auckland in I'M!).' Wood came second, and Butters third. O'Rorke), whieli is wrtn by the best aggregate score of each team in the second qualifying round of, the Amateur Championship, gave rise to a close finish, Christchurch defeating Auckland by a single point. Napier was third and Wellington fourth.
