ORDINARY meetixg. The ordinary meeting of the Masterton A, and P. Society wa3 held on Saturday afternoon, tlio president (Mr H. Morrison) presiding, and there being a fair attendance of members. A letter was received from Mr G R. Sykes, M.P., enclosing a notification from the Minister of Railways in connection with granting free railway passes to secretaries of agricultural and pastoral associations, and stating the matter was not practicalbe, afl the granting of privileges t-o secretaries of A. and P. societies would necessarily tejid to discrimination, which would not bo fair to other similar institutions. —Received. It was divided to write the manager of the Waingawa freezing works thanking him for donation of topdressing. The secretary of the Taranaki Agricultural Show wrote intimating date.i for show. —Received. .Tiia Ot;u;o A. and P. Society wroto t!;ankiii<; t!vj Association for recommending Messrn 0. Donald and R. D. Knight, Palmerston North, as suitable judges for liorso parade, and stating til at Mr R. J). Knight hat 1 , been, asked to act in that capacity.
It 'wan decided that sub-committooK of the various classes bo appointed to revise the various schedules in each class, and afterwards bo adopted by general committee. The followin« committees were, set up : Light Horses, Messrs C. E. Vallance (convener), A. Pilmer. W.l*. Watson, and W. Cooper. Draught Horses —Messrs "R. Dam!', (convenor), H. Dags, R. Gray and A. Percy. Cattle —Messrs J. Strang (convener), A. McMaster, W. H. Buick. J. James and J. Dai!":. Farmers' Classes and Fat Sheep—Messrs J. Strang (convener), K. Cooper. J. McKillop, G. Shaw and J." P. Perry. Stud Sheep—Messrs W. Perry (convener), I). McGregor, B. Rayner, R. Gray and G. Allen. Dogr; and Pips—Messrs H. Morrison and T. Bannister. Produce a"d Schools Classes —Messrs Harper (convener), J. B. Moodie, G. C. Summeoll and D. Casel berg. . ' • Tlie reports of the Ground and finance Committees were read arnL adopted. It was decided that the. committee meet on the Sol way grounds within a fe i wee let; and go into the question ci traffic on show day. It was resolved ■ that the various committees have their reports prepared by the firs' 1 ; Saturday in October. It was decided that, an effort be made to have all outstanding subscriptions paid in as soon as possi jle. Messrs Caselberg and Summerell were authorised to sign cheques on boluilf of the Society. GROUND COMMITTEE. The usual monthly meeting of the Ground Committee was held on Saturday morning, there being present • Messrs H. Morrison, B. Rayner. R. Grav, E. Harper. and J. T. Dagg. The caretaker reported as follows: "Since my last report I have finished burning rubbish from-tops of trees and sowed burnt, patches with grass; top dressed clover paddocks which are looking well; repaired bullock pen, which was broken during last show; erected new fence (with 10ft gate) at back of bush to give ingress to old orchard; planted an additional fifty cabbage trees presented by the secretary, nlso flowers and shrub" donated by Mr H. M. Boddington." On the motion of Mr Morrison it was decided that' Messrs R. Gray and D. McGregor wait upon the Town Clerk in referenco to rolling York and Fleet Streets. FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee met in the forenoon, there being present—Messrs H Morrison, Bland. Itayner, D. hover J. Strang. D. J. Welch, J. B. Moodio and G. C. Summerell. The treasurer's statement, showing a debit balance of £llß9 14s lid, was read and adopted. Accounts for £52 7b Id were passed for oayment. It was decided that a canvass o Wellington he undertaken between 11th and 16th November, and the secretarv was instructed to ascertain from Mr W. E. Didwill if these days were suitable as far as he was concerned. Lists of suitable stewards for revising sections of the Association s next schedulo were prepared for pre-senta-tion to the General Committee.
